Mission
Promote the sustainability of fisheries in the Yucatan Peninsula through scientific research, social participation, and institutional strengthening, with an emphasis on the conservation of the octopuses O. americanus and Octopus maya, the latter being an endemic species of high ecological, economic, and cultural value.
Vision
To be a leading organization nationally and internationally for its contribution to the sustainable management of fisheries resources, the promotion of human rights in coastal communities, and the generation of applied knowledge that strengthens public policies around responsible fishing.
General objective
Strengthen governance, scientific knowledge, and social and institutional capacities for the responsible management of octopus and other key species in the Yucatan Peninsula region through applied research initiatives, technical support, the dissemination of good fishing practices, and the promotion of equity and social justice in fishing communities.
